about

I cannot listen to this song without a tear forming when I hear my sweet sweet grandkids sing like angels with me. So precious.
I was renting a cabin by the ocean and I would sit and watch the tugs go by doing their various jobs, along with knowing a few fellow tugboat dudes, and poof, a song came out. What a life it must be....

lyrics

The Tug

Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea,
Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be
Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see,
Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea

The load’s all ready, the logs are all boomed
Gotta get ‘em to the mill or they’ll be ruined
Then pick up a barge, with a great big crane
To do some dredging in the shipping lane

The tide’s coming in and the current’s strong
The diesel keeps a chugging as we mozey along
Gotta keep her humming, momentum is the key
Keep the lines all tight so they don’t break free

Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea,
Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be
Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see,
Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea

Now the breeze is light, the sailors are out
In their little sailboats just dancing about
The sun’s just a shinin, so there’s kayaks too
Better watch out, or we’ll run over you.

The calm seas are over, a gale does arise
Whipping those waves up, look at their size
Steady as she goes, a gentle hand on the wheel
For this little tug, it ain’t no big deal

Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea,
Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be
Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see,
Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea

In the dead of night when it’s crystal clear
Stars are a twinklin’ and the moon beam’s dear
The skipper’s heart is singing a song
You know he’s right where he belongs

Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea,
Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be
Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see,
Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea

I love this saying, has become my mission statement...

I grew up in Northern Canada, and while always having a deep love of music, it’s been later in life, since 2012, that I started writing and performing.

My intent is to spread love and joy through music, which hopefully leaves you with a smile in your heart.
