Vida Deriva It started from a tiny spark That sprang into his mind The product of a dream he had, Just wasn’t sure what kind He searched for info far and wide He read all kinds of books browsed thru lots of magazines, Comparing the different looks It had to be real tough and strong Go to hell and back and then some thru his research he did find She had to be aluminum He knew he needed a little help So a builder he did call Ted Brewer said “no problem”, I’ll design you a mighty hull - So out he pulled the welding gear On he donned his mask went about to build his boat A huge and formidable task Now there are just a few things I think that I should say she was built in the land of snow Mile “0” Alaska Highway Yes sir folks, that’s what I said I swear it all is true She was built near the Rockies Miles from the ocean blue Now, she did take some real hard work Alot of sweat and cursin’ A dedication and strong will, bruises he’s still nursin’ For five long years, he did toil Most people thought “he’s nuts” But people who were close to him, Said “boy that guy’s got guts!” Yes, There were those that really thought it was just a lark They smiled and called him “Noah”, teased him about his Ark But he just grinned and chuckled went about his way He built the Vida Deriva, He’s sailing her today Man she loves to dance the waves She glides along with pride playfully she catches the wind her crew warm and dry inside Congrats to you now, Skipper On an awesome job well done I wish you health and happiness, Calm seas and lots of rum Abby Grace – PRO Socan - Artist Page - https://www.thehermitsmusic.com/artists/abby-grace/ - Producer – The Hermits Music

A-Sailin’ Day Skimmin, across the ocean blue Just the elements and you A smiling face, a heart so free Happy sailors we all be Swoosh swoosh, feel the spray Washing all our cares away Howl howl, the wind does wail Whippin’ by, fillin’ the sail The sea’s now calm, winds be fair Downwind we glide not a care There’s only us in our little boat Cruising along, staying afloat Swoosh swoosh, feel the spray Washing all our cares away Howl howl, the wind does wail Whippin’ by, fillin’ the sail A tug and a pull, the hook is set She’s all tied down, deeds are met Sundowner time, let’s have a shot Perhaps we’ll see the sun’s green spot Swoosh swoosh, feel the spray Washing all our cares away Howl howl, the wind does wail Whippin’ by, fillin’ the sail Asleep we fall to the rock and roll Happy and contented soul Mother Nature has let us play Gifted us a perfect day Swoosh swoosh, feel the spray Washing all our cares away Howl howl, the wind does wail Whippin’ by, fillin’ the sail Swoosh swoosh, feel the spray Washing all our cares away Howl howl, the wind does wail Whippin’ by, fillin’ the sail Abby’s Amblings – 14-05-12

The Tug 04:22
The Tug Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea, Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see, Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea The load’s all ready, the logs are all boomed Gotta get ‘em to the mill or they’ll be ruined Then pick up a barge, with a great big crane To do some dredging in the shipping lane The tide’s coming in and the current’s strong The diesel keeps a chugging as we mozey along Gotta keep her humming, momentum is the key Keep the lines all tight so they don’t break free Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea, Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see, Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea Now the breeze is light, the sailors are out In their little sailboats just dancing about The sun’s just a shinin, so there’s kayaks too Better watch out, or we’ll run over you. The calm seas are over, a gale does arise Whipping those waves up, look at their size Steady as she goes, a gentle hand on the wheel For this little tug, it ain’t no big deal Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea, Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see, Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea In the dead of night when it’s crystal clear Stars are a twinklin’ and the moon beam’s dear The skipper’s heart is singing a song You know he’s right where he belongs Tug, tug, tug – the little tug’s at sea, Chug, chug, chug – what a life it must be Tug, tug, tug – the things he must see, Chug, chug, chug – oh what a life on the sea Abby’s Ambling – 21-04-12

Senses of the Sea LOOK at her and all her colours Beautiful, deep and true Emerald green and sparkling white To mysterious shades of blue LISTEN to her sing a soulful song A sweet, clear lullaby The softness of her swish and sway Her booming, crashing cry SMELL her as you breathe her in The fragrance of her dew Of all her living creatures And tangy saltiness too TASTE her as the misty fog Permeates throughout the air Or when a wet and wily rogue Splashes you out of nowhere TOUCH her gently and you’ll feel Her power and her might Or the rippling silkiness Her caress so soft and light Her presence fills your senses So mystic and so free She’s Mother Nature’s finest The glorious magnificent Sea The glorious magnificent......... Back to the Boat Mercy sakes, a dream come true Skipper called, he’s looking for crew Enough of the land, going back to the boat To get her ready, see if she’ll float We’ll spiff her up, polish her clean Swab the decks, make her gleam Unfurl the sails and check for rips See how much they want for slips Bilge pump’s good and working fine In the hold we stored a bottle of wine Head’s pumped out and working too The tanks are all filled up with fuel The riggin’s old, she’ll last the year Chain a bit rusty but goes thru the gear Dingy’s flat and needs some air And just a patch or two for repair The GPS still shows the map A coat of paint, we should slap Galley’s good, stocked with food The engine runs, a bit of a ‘tude Okey dokey, I think we’re set There’s sure to be something we’ll forget Time has come, let’s go and play A smile in our heart, we’ll sail her away A smile in our heart-- we’ll sail her away… Abby’s Amblings – 29-05-12

about

Combining a deep love of sailing with a passion for sharing joyful music, this CD is a compilation of my experiences, with a “sea shanty/ Irish Rovers” flare to it.
Witnessing my songs come to life under the skilful collaboration of such open-hearted and fun musicians was pure magic.
Our Intention was to create a joyful experience.
Our Mission was to leave you with a smile on your face.
It is our hope and desire that you have as much fun listening to it as we had making it

Putting the livingroom back in the music - Emmylou Harris

I love this saying, has become my mission statement...

I grew up in Northern Canada, and while always having a deep love of music, it’s been later in life, since 2012, that I started writing and performing.

My intent is to spread love and joy through music, which hopefully leaves you with a smile in your heart.
